Early Voting Drive-by Polling Place Observation
About this event
Polling Place Observers
Early voting drive-by polling place observation involves volunteers briefly checking voting sites for long lines, blocked curbside voting areas, voter intimidation, or other possible concerns. By reporting problems to the Election Protection Hotline, volunteers help ensure that every voter can cast a ballot safely and without unnecessary barriers.
The LWVCM has selected nine early voting sites that we'd like members to observe with drive-by monitoring. The dates/times/locations are below.
We'd like volunteers to choose different times each day during early voting and record your planned observation time when you sign up to volunteer.
Suggested times include:
- 8 - 9am (polls open at 8 am)
- 12 - 1pm (lunchtime)
- 3 - 4pm (mid-afternoon for those late-lunchers and I'm-leaving-work-early-to-go-vote voters)
- 6 - 7:30pm (polls close at 7:30pm)
- But any time that works for you is great!
NOTE: Voting hours differ on Saturdays and Sundays, which are included in the volunteer opportunities. Use your best judgment.
What do I need to do?
You don't need to do anything unless you see something concerning.
There is a list of what to look for when you sign up for this opportunity. You ONLY need to record and report anything IF you observe something concerning. Make a report by calling the Election Protection Hotline: 888-687-8683
