The Women’s Healthcare and Reproductive Rights (WHARR) Action Team informs the community and advocates for women’s healthcare and reproductive rights. Guided by the positions of LWVUS, LWVNC, and LWVCM, we believe everyone should have the right to make their own reproductive choices in private. We partner with local League members, non-partisan groups, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents. Our main goal is to ensure fair access to healthcare and reproductive rights, including bodily autonomy, privacy, reproductive health, and access to contraception and abortion. We stay up to date with federal and state policy changes, share how these changes affect our community, and lead advocacy efforts. These include writing to officials and the public, organizing phone and text banks, giving community presentations, hosting information tables at events, and working with other organizations on shared goals.
